MIAMI, FL, UNITED STATES, October 13, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ — Userlytics, a global UX research platform, today announced the launch of AI Moderation, a new capability that helps UX researchers, UX designers, product managers, and extended teams explore participant responses more deeply within scalable unmoderated studies.
AI Moderation generates follow-up questions while participants are still completing a user research activity, based on the goals of each specific activity or question, and taking into account previous commentary and responses by the participant. Guided by the activity, discussion guide, and UX research objective, it builds on what participants say to uncover the reasoning, expectations, and emotions behind their initial responses.
Teams can enable AI Moderation for any and all specific activities that warrant deeper exploration. This marries the conversational depth of moderated sessions with the scalability of unmoderated UX research.
“The UX Research industry has always been confronted with a tradeoff: Do we invest the time and money for in-depth moderated sessions, with a lower number of respondents, or do we leverage the scalability of unmoderated user testing to enable fast, inexpensive input from large sample studies, but without the depth and control of moderated usability studies? Now our enterprise clients can do both, avoiding the tradeoff. ” said Alejandro Rivas-Micoud, CEO of Userlytics. “AI Moderation enables teams to dig deeper into the tasks and questions that matter most, combining the scalability of task-based unmoderated UX research with the in-depth probing and insights of moderated UX studies.”
Follow-up Questions Grounded in the UX Research Objective
To use AI Moderation, UX researchers enable follow-up questions for selected activities and describe what they want to learn in each one. There is no need to write AI prompts or build question logic.
As the participant completes each activity, AI evaluates their actions and/or responses against that objective and asks a follow-up question in the study’s language, but only if previous commentary and responses have not already answered the question. Questions appear in a floating panel over the live website or prototype, allowing participants to continue exploring without leaving the page.
For example, a participant might describe a design simply by saying, “I like the blue.” A follow-up asking what appeals to them about the color can reveal an association with a familiar brand or a feeling of trust, giving the team more useful context for interpreting the response.
“A follow-up answer is most useful when you can see what prompted it,” said Mauri Torra, VP of Product at Userlytics. “With AI Moderation, those answers stay connected to the original activity, so teams can review the participant’s initial reaction and the explanation behind it together. That context helps them make better sense of the feedback.”
Greater Depth with Fewer Demands on the Team
AI Moderation helps teams:
– Explore the reasons behind responses: The AI system asks follow-up questions in the moment, while participants are still engaged with the activity.
– Extend UX research across a scalable number of sessions: Adds conversational depth without requiring a live moderator for every participant.
– Reduce coordination: Explores responses without live-session scheduling or time-zone coordination.
– Support user testing across markets: Generates follow-up questions in the language configured for the study.
– Keep analysis connected: Reviews follow-up answers within the original activity, alongside the response that prompted them.
Together with the recently released AI Study Designer and Qualitative Reporting, AI Moderation completes Userlytics’ end-to-end AI-assisted workflow for designing, launching, moderating, and analyzing UX research studies, with “human-in-the loop” oversight throughout.
